A rollout covers four phases: prototype, pilot with a small group, staged expansion, and full production. Each phase has an exit criterion — accuracy, adoption, or cost — that must be met before the next phase begins. The point is to find failures while they are cheap.
Why it matters for your business
Most AI projects fail in rollout, not in the model. A pilot that works for five users breaks at fifty because the data is messier, the edge cases are louder, and the team has not been trained. Treating rollout as a real project is the difference between a press release and a P&L line.
